This is an urgent email.
Due to flooding from the river and the ongoing rainfall this area is now entering a critical period.
Currently one of the roads in the vicinity is recording 45.72 cm of flood water. Farmers have had to remove livestock from their yards. Home owners are living in stress and fear of flooding.
The approach adopted by the OPW is cruel and beyond measure. There is no need for it. You, as well all of us, know that. The flooding can be mitigated with good will and proper management.
I reiterate my previous request for a meeting with you in Athlone at the earliest possible time.
